Fifty Two Sponsors On Board for 15th Annual Heartland Film Festival

2006 Sponsors Provide Support for Truly Moving Pictures and the Visionaries Behind Them

Indianapolis, IN — Heartland Film Festival® is pleased to introduce the generous group of sponsors who will help celebrate 15 years of honoring Truly Moving PicturesSM during the annual Festival, October 19-27 in Indianapolis. Among the 42 returning organizations on board for 2006 are Innovative, Saab Automobile USA, three-sixty group and WTHR – Channel 13. Committing to sponsorship for the first time are BitWise Solutions Inc., Borders, Bright House Networks, Duke Energy Corporation, Film Indiana –Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Indianapolis Monthly, Just Pop In, Moving Pictures Magazine, Nordstrom, Omni Severin Hotel and Speedway SuperAmerica LLC. 

“We thank the many loyal and committed sponsors as well as our new sponsors for their generous support of the Festival and its mission to honor life-affirming films,” said Peggy Monson, vice president for advancement for Heartland Film Festival. “The Festival is a major undertaking that could not be executed without our sponsors’ presence and generosity. As Heartland celebrates its 15th anniversary, we are particularly grateful to those sponsors who return every year and ensure the vitality of Truly Moving Pictures.”

As a non-profit organization, Heartland receives support from corporate sponsors as well as from private foundations, non-profit associations, government agencies and individual donors. These contributions help underwrite screenings of Truly Moving Pictures during the annual Festival and the presentation of the Crystal Heart Awards Gala where Heartland awards $200,000 in cash prizes to the winning filmmakers.

In addition to funds which help pay for the costs of the many events and activities, sponsors provide donated goods and services which help make the Festival an engaging experience for participants. These contributions along with the continuing passion and dedication of sponsors assist with operations, marketing, volunteer services and transportation for the Festival. Sponsors also provide the financial support necessary for the creative enrichment of the independent film community, which allows filmmakers of all ages to voice powerful stories of inspiration and hope.

Through sponsor generosity, Heartland is able to provide essential programs and services including: screenings of independent films unavailable through other sources, distribution of films not commercially viable and educational opportunities for filmmakers and the community.

Heartland Film Festival honors films that celebrate the best aspects of the human journey. For more than a decade, the goal of Heartland has remained the same: to make a positive impact on American culture through film.

Heartland Film Festival, a non-profit organization, was established in 1991 to recognize and honor filmmakers whose work explores the human journey by artistically expressing hope and respect for the positive values of life. Each October, Heartland screens Truly Moving Pictures from around the world and presents cash prizes and Crystal Heart Awards to the Festival’s top entries. In 2006, Heartland will increase its total prize money to $200,000. This includes doubling its Grand Prize for Best Dramatic Feature to $100,000 and two new awards: a $25,000 cash prize for Best Documentary Feature and a $10,000 Vision Award for Best Short Film. The $100,000 Grand Prize Award is underwritten by the Max Simon Charitable Foundation and the Vision Award is underwritten by Vision Racing. The remaining $65,000 will be shared among the 2006 Crystal Heart and Jimmy Stewart Memorial Crystal Heart Award winners. Including the 2006 prize money, Heartland will have awarded more than $1.6 million in 15 years to support filmmakers in their quest to create Truly Moving Pictures.
